The Royal Royal – Heartbeats

The Royal Royal is made up of brothers Gabriel and Nathan Finochio of Ontario, Canada. They recently released their first EP titled Royal and you can get the song Heartbeats for a free download over at Noisetrade.

The Royal Royal have an indie rock sound that has synthpop influences throughout alot of their songs. This song although does not have the synthpop feel to it so much it actually has a bit of a classic rock feel to it, or as it's refered to it in Christian music, Jesus Movement music. I also am reminded a bit of the band Talking Heads on some of the song. From listening to the samples of the songs off of the EP I think Heartbeats is probably my favorite song from it. Kenosis – What Wondrous Love Is This

Kenosis is lead by Mars Hill worship leader Joel Brown, formerly of the band Red Letter. Their first EP on Mars Hill Music is Depth Of Mercy, the EP features an adaptation of the Charles Wesley hymn Depth Of Mercy as well a remake of Stuart Townend's How Deep The Fathers Love.

My favorite song off of the EP is What Wondrous Love Is This which you can download for free over at iTickets. Most of the songs on the EP have a great indie rock feel to them but What Wondrous Love Is This and the song All My Tears remind me of classic rock, probably would be for someone into The Followers or Resurrection Band. The Followers – Wounded Healer

Get The Followers latest release Wounded Healer from the folks over at Come&Live. The Followers is Josh White of Telecast and Eric Earley of Blitzen Trapper with a handfull of friends. The album is the first release from Deeper Well Records, which is a gospel collective that came out of Door Of Hope Church in Portland, Oregon.

The album is getting great reviews and they are well deserved. They call their style of music neo-gospel, blending rock, folk, country, and R&B. This is not a modern sound it is a throwback to 70s rock and when country music sounded, well like country music. I was not around for the "Jesus Movement" myself but this would be for anyone that was or still is into that, or fans of the Resurrection Band. Read the rest of this entry
