Some of my personal favorites on the sampler are Everything In Slow Motion, My Epic and Extol. I have bought all of their newest albums and they are all fantastic!! Truth. Love.Hope.Ministries has released a compilation on their Bandcamp page. The album, My Kingdom Is Not Of This World, is up for download and you can name your price. This means you could download it for free if you chose to or you can donate as much as you want. Any donations made to the ministry will help for missionaries that are over in South America. They will be helping get people doctors, clean water, fixing up homes and much more so your donations would really help.

As far as the music goes it's a good mix of heavy music hardcore, metal, deathcore, heavy worship…..  Some of my favorites would be: A Righteous Downfall's song Life Breather they have a southern metal feel to their music that reminds me of Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, Fat Kid Wins Cake's My Friend Plank which kinda reminds me of Haste The Day, Despair Of The Fallen's The Weight Of My Conscience. These are just some that caught my attention right away but there is many great songs on this compilations. Get it and enjoy, and donate if you can. Read the rest of this entry

The title track and last song on the album is one of the few places you will find clean vocals on the album. Read the rest of this entry

His Legacy – Not Ours (EP)

His Legacy is a rock band out of Portland, Oregon that would be in the same vein as Emery and Anberlin, although their Christian faith comes out in the lyrics a lot more. They are giving away their first release, Not Ours, for free at their bandcamp page.

The album sounds great with fantastic faith based lyrics, some coming straight from scripture, and ambient guitars throughout most of the album. The album is for the most part along the lines of Emery's mellower music minus a few exceptions mostly coming from the tracks Follow and Warrior where they take on a hardcore sound. My Ransomed Soul have a great metalcore sound with some clean vocals mixed in here and there. They also have a spoken word track, Resolution, and use some spoken word on the song The Message. My favorite song on the album would have to be Light The Sky which is a great heavy worship song. Read the rest of this entry

Hands Of The Martyr – Foul Tongue

Hands Of The Martyr is a hardcore band from Salt Lake City, Utah. They started out first as just a worship project under the name Falls First Fire. The band has since changed their name and some of their line up. They released their full length album, Foul Tongue, in 2011. Even though they are not just a worship project anymore the music is still all about God for them.

This album falls nicely into the heavy worship category as well as hardcore/metalcore. The band has also released a single they did with Tommy Green (Thom Green) of xDEATHSTARx and Sleeping Giant fame called We Are The Hope, which can be found here at Amazon and We Are The Hope (Ft. Thom Green From Sleeping Giant) - Single - Hands of The Martyr. Read the rest of this entry

See The Light – Maranatha

Right away See The Light's Maranatha reminded me a bit of Andrew W.K., but a bit heavier. There is very clear Christian messages that come through in their music, some bands express their religious ideas without actually waving a flag that says, "Yes, we are Christians and this is a Christian album," but these guys do not hide the fact in the least.

I think most would put it in the category of metalcore their MySpace says spirit-filled hardcore. This is definitely a "heavy worship" album, they don't hide that they are singing about their Christian beliefs so they can appeal to a secular audience. The music is fantastic and a bit all over the place as far as music styles. The album has spoken word, worship, hardcore/metal, progressive metal and piano pieces are laced throughout beautifully. I have grown very fond of this album and it is one of my current favorites, it is something I can feel great about listening to with my kids around. Read the rest of this entry
