Del Sur – The Drifter (EP)

Download Del Sur's debut EP, The Drifter, over at their Bandcamp page. The album has a great mix of southern rock/metal and hardcore music. If you enjoy bands such as Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, He Is Legend and Memphis May Fire I would highly recommend that you check out Del Sur. This EP was actually produced by Kellen McGregor, one of the guitar players from the band Memphis May Fire.

Was just reading through their Facebook wall and realized that the band has since broken up. On March 30th their post said RIP, and they just recently did one final show on Sept. 27th. Bummer, well I recommend getting the EP anyways, fantastic music. I have always been a big fan of the southern metal sound that bands like He Is Legend and Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster have put out. Read the rest of this entry

The two songs that were remixed for the fans were Let The Sparks Fly and Light Up The Sky. Light Up The Sky was remixed by Solomon Olds also known as Soul Glow Activatur of the band Family Force 5. I can't seem to find any info on who did the Let The Sparks Fly remix, anyone know anything about it? Read the rest of this entry

Showbread – Cancer

Showbread have released their new album Cancer for free download over at Come & Live. The album is a science fiction concept album that takes place on a planet called Cancer, which sounds strangely like the planet I live on. From what the Come & Live site says the story follows a rebellious rock musician that attempts to use his punk rock band to lead a revolt against inter-dimensional fascists in a not-so-distant American future.

I won't get to much into reviewing the album, there are many other places to find that if you so desire. To give you an idea of what to expect, from the band that you never know what to expect, Cancer is musically a mix of all of their previous albums with the addition of some new styles as well. Most important to many fans the album brings back the screams many have come to love with Showbread, that were non-existent in their last release Who Can Know It. Although I personally did not miss them I think they put out a solid album without them, but I do enjoy that they are back. Read the rest of this entry

Thousand Foot Krutch – Light Up The Sky

You can download the new Thousand Foot Krutch song Light Up The Sky for free over at Noisetrade. The song comes from their latest album The End Is Where We Begin. The End Is Where We Begin is their first Independent album since leaving Tooth & Nail Records in November of last year. The album has gotten good reviews and hit the number one spot on the Billboard Christian Albums and Hard Rock charts.

Light Up The Sky actually reminds me of Rage Against The machine quite a bit, more specifically the RATM song Guerrilla Radio. The guitar parts for sure but the vocals as well, mostly the vocals that are spoken more than sung. This isn't a bad thing I used to be a big fan of Rage Against The Machine. I'm sure some RATM fans would protest to that but that's what I hear. Read the rest of this entry

Mutinous Wonderflesh Vs. The Body Under The Head is a tribute album for the band Blaster The Rocket Man. The album was originally released in 2007 as more of a homemade CDR compilation. White Collar Sideshow – The Witchunt

White Collar Sideshow recently released their debut full length album, Witchunt, through Come & Live. You can download the album for free over at the Come & Live website. If you have already listened to their 2007 self titled EP you are in for something a bit different. The music is similar but where the EP only contained samples of talking from movies, from what I remember, this album actually contains vocals. Sometimes the vocals are more spoke than sung but I think it is a step in a great direction for the band.

I used to be a big fan of industrial music Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, and Revolting………. well you get the picture. While this is not exactly the same there is no other Christian bands that I can think of, at the moment, to compare too. So if you enjoy industrial music I would give this one a listen. Or if you enjoy something that is just a bit different then it is worth a listen as well. Read the rest of this entry

His Legacy – Not Ours (EP)

His Legacy is a rock band out of Portland, Oregon that would be in the same vein as Emery and Anberlin, although their Christian faith comes out in the lyrics a lot more. They are giving away their first release, Not Ours, for free at their bandcamp page.

The album sounds great with fantastic faith based lyrics, some coming straight from scripture, and ambient guitars throughout most of the album. The album is for the most part along the lines of Emery's mellower music minus a few exceptions mostly coming from the tracks Follow and Warrior where they take on a hardcore sound.
